Biographical aspects:

Born on 29 December 1952; two sons, three granddaughters

Studied German language and literature, English language and literature, and history of art in Heidelberg, Edinburgh and Zaragoza; worked as a dramaturge, lecturer

Member of BUND / Friends of the Earth Germany, WWF, the Europa-Union (German section of the Union of European Federalists), Amnesty International, Greenpeace and various cultural and social organizations in Baden-Württemberg

Member of The Greens since 1989; member of the executive committee of the Baden-Württemberg Land branch of Alliance 90/The Greens from 1995 to 1999 and from 2001 to 2013; chairwoman of the same committee from 2003 to 2005

Member of the German Bundestag since 2005

In the 16th parliamentary term: spokeswoman on environmental policy for the Alliance 90/The Greens parliamentary group

In the 17th parliamentary term: spokeswoman on nuclear policy for the Alliance 90/The Greens parliamentary group, member of the Environmental Committee, substitute member of the Educational Committee, chairwoman of the first parliamentary investigative committee in the term (Gorleben investigative committee)

In the 18th parliamentary term: member of the Commission for Highly Radioactive Waste (2014 – 2016)
